Nisyaan: The All-In-One Mobile App not only predicts an individual’s risk of Alzheimer’s disease but also offers a range of research-based features designed to improve the condition and enhance the quality of life for patients and their families.

I am truly humbled and grateful for this accomplishment, as it represents the culmination of dedicated research and collaboration with incredible team members Abdulwahid Shariff, Zaid Sarguroh, and mentor Dr Smitha Sunil Nair, who worked tirelessly to turn our ideas into impactful research. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Dr Hamed Al Sinawi FRCPsych (Senior Psychiatrist at SQUH).

This award would not have been possible without his support; Alzheimer’s disease is a complex and devastating condition that affects millions of lives, and I look forward to continuing our research journey and pushing the boundaries of our understanding of Alzheimer’s disease. In 2017, I proudly walked across the stage at Middle East College, clutching my Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Little did I know how this educational foundation would shape my career in the years to come.

The turning point came during my final year project when my innate curiosity, critical thinking, effective communication, and collaborative spirit caught the attention of a company’s team. Their interest led to my first opportunity, where I started as a trainer. This marked the beginning of a journey that would take me places I hadn’t even dreamed of.

After graduation, I transitioned into the role of HSE Manager at Al Tasnim Group, gaining valuable experience and knowledge. My career continued to ascend as I became a QHSE Team Leader at Averda, a leading waste management contractor for Oman Environment Holding Service Company LLC.

Fast forward to today, I find myself in the role of a QHSE Specialist at Enerflex Company, a prominent player in the Oil & Gas industry, with over six years of invaluable experience under my belt. This journey has been about continuous growth and learning.

Recognizing the importance of professional certifications, I pursued a Vocational Diploma in HSE practices, which is approved by OPAL. Additionally, I achieved certifications as an Internal Auditor for ISO14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018. These credentials have not only enriched my knowledge but also opened doors to new opportunities.

My role entails implementing HSE best practices in alignment with IMS, including ISO9001, 14001 & 45001. To stay ahead in my field, I make sure to stay updated with the latest legislation through reading safety manuals, attending safety seminars, and participating in safety training/awareness courses.

My time at Middle East College was a crucial part of my journey. It equipped me with a wide range of skills, including communication, teamwork-collaboration, self-confidence, project management, data analysis/visualization, and problem-solving. These skills have been instrumental in my career growth.

Being an MEC graduate fills me with immense pride, and I am excited about what the future holds. I am currently considering pursuing master’s degrees at MEC to continue my quest for knowledge and personal development.

My career story is one of continuous evolution. From 2006 to 2018, I dedicated myself to serving as a science teacher at the Ministry of Education. Simultaneously, I delved into the world of construction, working part-time as an assistant site engineer for Base of Modern Construction from 2008 to 2016.

My passion for civil engineering led me to Middle East College in 2014. During my time there, I acquired a multitude of invaluable skills, including communication, collaboration, self-confidence, project management, data analysis/visualization, and problem-solving. These skills inspired me to embark on my entrepreneurial journey in 2016 when I founded my own company, Albarwaaz Engineering Consultancy.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a desire to elevate my expertise, I opted to pursue postgraduate studies immediately after obtaining my bachelor’s degree. This decision led me to enroll in the Construction Project and Cost Management Master program at Middle East College in 2018, culminating in my graduation in 2019. This academic achievement opened doors to a realm of new opportunities, enabling me to work on diverse projects.

Subsequently, my career path took me to different roles, including a stint as a Civil Engineer at the Ministry of Education in 2019. In 2023, I embarked on yet another chapter by joining the Contract Consultancy-Tenders and Contracts department at the Ministry of Transport, Communication, and Information Technology.

Recognizing the significance of professional certifications, I collaborated with esteemed organizations and earned membership in the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). My commitment to lifelong learning is further evidenced by my pursuit of numerous training programs and international certificates, including Project Management Professional (PMP), Oracle Primavera P6, Revit Architecture, STAAD Professional, and an instructor certificate from the Arab Institute for Training in Saudi Arabia.

I take immense pride in being one of Middle East College’s graduates, and I eagerly anticipate the continued unfolding of my success story.
