About Conference

Middle East College’s 6th Student Research Conference 2023 on cited theme is expected to be held on hyflex mode in May 2023. The conference provides ample opportunities for the students to present their classroom, fieldwork, projects and other technical reports or research conducted during their course(s) of studies, whether they have completed or in-progress projects which have scope to be converted into an academic paper, technical report, poster, prototype or any other format to be presented for wider dissemination. The conference will facilitate the plenary speakers, face-to-face oral, virtual online participation, virtual presentation, poster presentations, workshops  etc.


All the graduate and undergraduate students from all disciplines are invited to present their scholarly work and participate in the deliberations and learning exercises. All the submitted research work represents the significant outcome of the projects, assignments, field related work or any other research work conducted by students or group of student. The work should be  original in the form of paper, poster, or presentation.


Each of the submitted research work(s) must have atleast one faculty mentor from relevant institutions who have mentored the work. All the submissions require to submit the summary of the project in a professional format normally acceptable format  like any other scholarly work; outlining the background information or question, key methods, results, brief discussions, and tentative implications in 150-200 words.

 

All the submissions should have the student's first author and the abstract should be submitted by one student and the same student should not submit the two abstracts as the first author. All the mentors are required to ensure that students have complied with the submissions as per the conference guidelines. They have to check and proofread and follow the journal of student research submission guidelines before submission to provide the appropriate feedback, guidance, and editing requirements. The mentors have to formally approve the abstract and the final presentation and paper for submission. The mentors has to review the presentation and provide the appropriate feedback to enhance the quality of the presentation and the paper.

Conference Aim and Objectives

The world has witnessed unprecedented challenges, particularly in post covid situations. The present and future scholarly need various skills and a set of strong attitudes and impactful knowledge and innovative solutions to respond to these challenges.  Smart technologies, and digital skills in Communication, Engineering, Archives & Management provides a platform where students can showcase their research work and innovative ideas in varied fields. In addition, it serves to enhance research collaboration between staff and students. The conference provides the platform to explore and share their innovative work. The knowledge produced during the deliberations will enlighten the academic community in general and students in particular. The Keynote addresses scheduled during the conference will offer a unique opportunity for students to discuss and debate the recent research areas. This conference featured invited speeches, oral presentations, poster presentations, Mini Hackathon, and other technical workshops.


The student-led 6th research conference is an opportunity to present the student research work in their respective field on particular areas of interest highly focused and clear purpose and significance of the topic in a particular discipline or program. The event is an opportunity for the students to present their work for discussion, attend and connect with their colleagues, sharpen their research skills and update their knowledge in their respective fields. The students will have firsthand knowledge of the peer review process, submission, acceptance, review, and subsequently publishing process including the variety of learning opportunities, career developments, deliberations and competitions, and professional networking.

Middle East College has a track record to provide these opportunities to all the colleges and institutions in Oman and from outside Oman to participate, and present their work both in physical presence and online hyperflex formats. All the students have the opportunity to participate and present their scholarly works and get them published in reputed journals such as the Journal of student research and gain experience and confidence by participating in scholarly conferences.

 

Abstract Submission:

The submitted abstracts will go through a blind peer-review process. Authors will be requested to submit the full paper if the abstract gets accepted. Papers submitted and presented at the conference will be included in the conference proceedings. The shortlisted paper will be sent to be published in the Journal of Student Research (https://www.jofsr.org).


Oral online or face-to-face presentations: 15 minutes including the time for questions.
