تعلن كلية الشرق الأوسط عن تنظيم المؤتمر الدولي الرابع لتدريس اللغة الإنجليزية لغير الناطقين بها (TESOL) تحت عنوان "تعليم اللغة الإنجليزية في العصر الديناميكي للذكاء الاصطناعي وعالم العمل"، وذلك يوم السبت الموافق 15 فبراير 2026 في المركز الطلابي بحرم الكلية. يُعقد المؤتمر تحت رعاية معالي الدكتورة مديحة بنت أحمد الشيبانية، وزيرة التعليم. يستقطب المؤتمر متخصصين وباحثين ومعلمين من مختلف أنحاء العالم للمشاركة في جلسات نقاشية وعروض تقديمية حول أحدث الاتجاهات في تعليم اللغة الإنجليزية. يتناول المؤتمر موضوعات حيوية تتعلق بتأثير الذكاء الاصطناعي على التعليم، والابتكارات البيداغوجية، ودور المعلم في العصر الرقمي، والمهارات المطلوبة للأجيال الجديدة في سوق العمل.

أهداف المؤتمر::

استكشاف تأثير الذكاء الاصطناعي على تعليم اللغة الإنجليزية.
تبادل الخبرات والممارسات الفضلى بين المعلمين والباحثين.
مناقشة الابتكارات البيداغوجية والتقنيات الحديثة.

نظّمت كلية الشرق الأوسط المخيم الكشفي الشتوي الثاني لعشيرة جوالة وجوالات الكلية تحت شعار "مخيم 360 | قيادة تُرى من كل زاوية". يأتي هذا المخيم كمبادرة متكاملة لتمكين الشباب وتنمية مهاراتهم القيادية من خلال أنشطة تفاعلية وتدريبات عملية. يستهدف المخيم جوالي وجوالات من مختلف المحافظات، ويوفر لهم فرصة الاطلاع على بيئة كشفية حقيقية وتطوير مهاراتهم في القيادة واتخاذ القرارات وإدارة الوقت. تتضمن برامج المخيم ورش عمل يقودها الشباب حول ريادة الأعمال والتفكير الإبداعي، وأنشطة كشفية متنوعة تشمل التخييم والطهي الخلوي وتدريبات الإسعافات الأولية، بالإضافة إلى تحديات رياضية وأمسيات ثقافية وفنية. ساهم المخيم في تعزيز قيم التطوع وخدمة المجتمع والوعي البيئي لدى الشباب.

أهداف المخيم:

تمكين الشباب وتنمية مهارات القيادة والمسؤولية.
تعزيز التعاون وبناء العلاقات بين الجوالة من مختلف المحافظات.
غرس قيم التطوع وخدمة المجتمع.

From MEC Graduate to QHSE Specialist in the Oil & Gas Industry – Sara Al Abri

يسعدني أن أشارككم رحلتي، منذ تخرجي من كلية الشرق الأوسط إلى دوري الحالي كأخصائي في الجودة والصحة والسلامة والبيئة في قطاع النفط والغاز.

في عام 2017، مشيت بفخر على خشبة المسرح في كلية الشرق الأوسط، وحصلت على درجة البكالوريوس في الهندسة المدنية. لم أكن أعلم كيف سيشكل هذا الأساس التعليمي مسيرتي المهنية في السنوات القادمة.

جاءت نقطة التحول خلال مشروع السنة الأخيرة لي عندما لفت فضولي الفطري وتفكيري النقدي والتواصل الفعال وروح التعاون انتباه فريق الشركة. أدى اهتمامهم إلى فرصتي الأولى، حيث بدأت كمدربة. كان هذا بمثابة بداية رحلة ستأخذني إلى أماكن لم أحلم بها.

بعد التخرج، انتقلت إلى منصب مدير الصحة والسلامة والبيئة في مجموعة التسنيم، واكتسبت خبرة ومعرفة قيمة. استمرت مسيرتي المهنية في الصعود حيث أصبحت قائد فريق الجودة والصحة والسلامة والبيئة في شركة أفيردا، وهي شركة رائدة في مجال إدارة النفايات تابعة للشركة العمانية لخدمات البيئة القابضة ش.م.م.

وبالمضي قدمًا إلى اليوم، أجد نفسي في دور أخصائي الجودة والصحة والسلامة والبيئة في شركة Enerflex، وهي شركة رائدة في صناعة النفط والغاز، ولدي أكثر من ست سنوات من الخبرة التي لا تقدر بثمن. كانت هذه الرحلة تدور حول النمو المستمر والتعلم.

وإدراكًا لأهمية الشهادات المهنية، قمت بمتابعة الدبلوم المهني في ممارسات الصحة والسلامة والبيئة، والذي تمت الموافقة عليه من قبل أوبال. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، حصلت على شهادتي كمدقق داخلي لـ ISO14001:2015 وISO 45001:2018. لم تؤد أوراق الاعتماد هذه إلى إثراء معرفتي فحسب، بل فتحت أيضًا الأبواب أمام فرص جديدة.

يستلزم دوري تنفيذ أفضل ممارسات الصحة والسلامة والبيئة بما يتماشى مع نظام الإدارة المتكاملة (IMS)، بما في ذلك ISO9001 و14001 و45001. وللبقاء في المقدمة في مجال عملي، أتأكد من مواكبة أحدث التشريعات من خلال قراءة أدلة السلامة وحضور ندوات السلامة والمشاركة في التدريب على السلامة ودورات توعوية .

كان الوقت الذي أمضيته في كلية الشرق الأوسط جزءًا مهمًا من رحلتي. لقد زودتني بمجموعة واسعة من المهارات، بما في ذلك التواصل والتعاون والعمل الجماعي والثقة بالنفس وإدارة المشاريع وتحليل البيانات وتصورها وحل المشكلات. وكانت هذه المهارات مفيدة في نمو حياتي المهنية.

كوني خريجة كلية الشرق الأوسط يملأني بفخر كبير، وأنا متحمسة لما يخبئه المستقبل. أفكر حاليًا في الحصول على درجة الماجستير في كلية الشرق الأوسط لمواصلة سعيي للمعرفة والتطوير الشخصي.

Adil Saif Al-Rahbi: From an Educator to a Chief Executive Officer

Allow me to share my journey with you. In 2017, I proudly graduated from Middle East College with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. However, my academic pursuits didn’t end there. In 2019, I earned a Master of Science in Construction Project and Cost Management. But, my educational journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry Education from the Faculty of Education.

My career story is one of continuous evolution. From 2006 to 2018, I dedicated myself to serving as a science teacher at the Ministry of Education. Simultaneously, I delved into the world of construction, working part-time as an assistant site engineer for Base of Modern Construction from 2008 to 2016.

My passion for civil engineering led me to Middle East College in 2014. During my time there, I acquired a multitude of invaluable skills, including communication, collaboration, self-confidence, project management, data analysis/visualization, and problem-solving. These skills inspired me to embark on my entrepreneurial journey in 2016 when I founded my own company, Albarwaaz Engineering Consultancy.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a desire to elevate my expertise, I opted to pursue postgraduate studies immediately after obtaining my bachelor’s degree. This decision led me to enroll in the Construction Project and Cost Management Master program at Middle East College in 2018, culminating in my graduation in 2019. This academic achievement opened doors to a realm of new opportunities, enabling me to work on diverse projects.

Subsequently, my career path took me to different roles, including a stint as a Civil Engineer at the Ministry of Education in 2019. In 2023, I embarked on yet another chapter by joining the Contract Consultancy-Tenders and Contracts department at the Ministry of Transport, Communication, and Information Technology.

Recognizing the significance of professional certifications, I collaborated with esteemed organizations and earned membership in the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). My commitment to lifelong learning is further evidenced by my pursuit of numerous training programs and international certificates, including Project Management Professional (PMP), Oracle Primavera P6, Revit Architecture, STAAD Professional, and an instructor certificate from the Arab Institute for Training in Saudi Arabia.

I take immense pride in being one of Middle East College’s graduates, and I eagerly anticipate the continued unfolding of my success story.

From Classroom to Career: How Middle East College’s Learning opportunities and Career Support helped me land my dream career

Immediately after graduating from Middle East College, I landed my dream job because of its excellent career support, teaching, internship and learning experiential opportunities, and research, to name a few.

As a recent graduate of the Quantity Surveying and Construction Management programme at Middle East College (MEC), I am excited to share my journey and the valuable experiences that have helped me become a successful Procurement Engineer. Throughout my time at MEC, I received commendable support from the faculty of The Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, which provided me with experiential learning opportunities such as training, site visits, and guest lectures. These experiences helped improve my employability skills and prepared me for the workforce.

After completing the course, the department offered me an internship opportunity at AL-EZ Trading Transport & Contracting Company in December 2022. The interview process was rigorous, but with my improved skills and knowledge, I was able to succeed and obtain the internship. During the training period, I put all my efforts and skills into proving myself, which resulted in the company offering me a permanent position as a Procurement Engineer.

I am grateful to the faculty and staff at MEC for their continuous support and guidance throughout my journey. Additionally, I would like to thank the Career Services, Alumni & External Affairs Department for selecting me to participate in the “SELAH” program, which helped me develop my skills in the workplace. The programme was designed for fresh graduates, where we worked closely with an alumni member who worked in a reputed organisation.

My success as a Procurement Engineer would not have been possible without the opportunities and support provided by Middle East College. I am proud to graduate from MEC and receive a high-quality education that has helped me achieve my goals. The skills and knowledge I gained during my time at MEC have been invaluable in my professional development, and I look forward to continuing my growth in my chosen field.

I would like to encourage all students and graduates to take advantage of the opportunities provided by their institutions, such as internships and career development programs. These experiences can help shape their future careers and prepare them for success in the workforce. I am grateful for the support and guidance I received at MEC and would recommend the college to anyone looking for quality education and excellent support to help them achieve their goals.

My Journey to Success in Study and Final Year Project- Imad Al Kalbani

In my opinion, Bachelor’s project is extremely important in a student’s life. It is a display of the knowledge that he/she acquired over a period. Job recruiters often make decisions based on the quality of such work. Although we do many mini-projects throughout the four years of study, the expectations, challenges, and depth of the research work in the final year project are at a different levels.

I could take a wonderful project and complete it in style with numerous achievements due to the tireless and persistent support of my project supervisor Dr Fiseha M. Guangul, Assistant Professor at MEC and other department staff. The project focused on renewable energy, and to be precise; the topic was ‘Energy Harvesting using Vertical Axis Wind Turbine from a Wind Turbulence created by moving cars: Parametric Study.

I’m extremely happy to have won the Undergraduate Research Grant of 1500 OMR for my project from the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Oman. It also helped me establish all the necessary experimental arrangements. The output of the project work was presented in 2021 at International Conference on Smart City and Green Energy (ICSCGE), Hangzhou, China. Later, the proceeding of the conference was published on IEEE Xplore.

My time at MEC was extremely fruitful and memorable. The infrastructure at the Mechanical Engineering Lab is amazing. I graduated from the college not only with remarkable accolades on my resume but also with great domain knowledge, confidence, and a genuine sense of personal development.

What an unforgettable experience it was!!

I am humbled and honoured to be included among the 100 Successful Omani Women highlighted in the beautiful book by the German author Kathleen Najed.

The book demonstrates the involvement of Omani Women across various areas and domains. The stories featured in this book are truly inspiring and powerful, and this alone makes it a great reference to other women and students that are willing to learn more about Oman and Omani Women.

Thank you to all the people and organisations who have been involved in making my success possible, especially Middle East College that has been a part of my success journey.

MSc programme , a true life-changing accomplishment- Ashraf Al Jaffari

I guess I always knew that after I received my bachelors, I would want to continue my education into a Master’s degree. However, I was not sure when I would be able to accomplish this goal. I’ve heard good things about the MSc programme from Coventry University at the Middle East College, and it was important to me that the university was highly ranked in the UK and internationally. The other fact that petitioned me was the course content. The MSc programme in IT covers everything that I want. Therefore it was a true life-changing accomplishment for me being a recent graduate of the MSc programme in IT. I can confidently claim that the programme’s skills and experiences have allowed me to develop into a confident student and researcher without a doubt. I believe it resulted from the support and encouragement of the MEC faculty and their passion. The scope of topics taught during the program’s lecture hours, along with literary events held by both the English and Postgraduate Departments throughout the year, allow for a genuinely immersive postgraduate experience.
The programme encouraged debate and questioning of ideas promoting independent thinking and allowed for unique ideas to be heard and discussed without any given feeling like having to recount a text. Unique ideas for in-class assignments were encouraged and allowed students to adapt and improve their research interests throughout the year, which allowed me to map the development of my research before beginning my thesis. The binding together of academic writing to desirable employment traits, through such aspects as conference organization, has given me the self-assurance to enter the research publication world knowing that I possess the skills and confidence to pursue papers publication. Throughout my experience as a student of MSc IT, I felt fully supported by every lecturer I met; as are a result, I felt there has been no question or observation that was too big or too small when discussing the study material and assignments. Group discussions are at the core of every lecture and allowed me and my classmates to expand our academic thinking by engaging with the many views one often finds within an educational institution. Once it came to starting thesis work, the groundwork and support had already been well-established and made the entire experience a pleasure to plunge me in. I look back on my time in college with nothing but glimmering memories. I do encourage anyone interested in expanding and refining their literary and research skills to participate in the programme. It has been a remarkably enjoyable experience from start to finish.

Having a well-educated society is an important ingredient to raise the quality of life in a country.

I’m proud to have obtained a degree in Civil Engineering at Middle East College. The major introduced me to many topics in science, math, planning, construction and so on.

Specialisations of this type serve society, the country, and the world at large. Jobs created by these specialisations are often referred to as people-serving professions as they focus on projects that benefit society.

I’m excited to serve my country using the knowledge I gained from this programme, and I would continue to contribute to the development of the country, and society for a bright future ahead.

MEC is the place where I discovered myself and my skills. I deeply acknowledge and appreciate the effort from the college in shaping my future. I promise that I will spread my wings to make my college proud where I will be the best version of myself.
