MEC students belonging to the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Ahmed bin Mohammed Azri, Mohammed bin Abdallah Sinani, Shabib Mohammed Al Busaidi secured seed funding in the UPGRADE 2020 competition organized by The Ministry of Higher Education Research and Innovation. The winning project named ‘Smart system for preserving water loss in the Sultanate of Oman’ was guided and mentored by Dr. Basim Khidir, Head of Mechanical Engineering. The students have won funding of 10,000 OMR to transform their graduation project focussed on 4th Industrial Revolution Technologies to bring about Socio-economic benefit for the country.
The 4th Edition of UPGRADE program competition saw 75 projects submissions from 19 institutions from within and outside Oman. Middle East college had submitted 22 projects, and among these, four projects have reached the final round, and one project won the funding. It is worth mentioning that MEC students have been winning the UPGRADE award for the 4th consecutive year.
