English Middle East College (MEC) has been institutionally accredited by OAAA
Middle East College (MEC) has been granted full accreditation by the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA) on Monday, 16th March 2020. In its official communication, the OAAA announced that Middle East College is accredited by satisfying all the applicable standards and associated criteria of the Institutional Standards Assessment (ISA). The college has received a high criterion rating of 3 for Teaching Quality and Research Output, making it the only higher education institution in Oman to receive a top rating for the two criteria.
The successful outcome confirms the robust internal Quality Assurance mechanisms at MEC. It signifies the good practices established in academic and non-academic services that are well planned, meet stakeholder expectations and satisfies external requirements.
Dr. Abdullah Saif Ahmed Al Sabahi, Chairman expressed his happiness over the achievement and said, “This is a milestone achievement for the college. This outcome reassures all stakeholders about our commitment in ensuring quality of our teaching and research activities. I’d like to thank the OAAA for establishing a strong framework with extensive assessment mechanisms to ensure the quality of higher education in the Sultanate, in adherence to international standards.”
Congratulating the students, staff and other stakeholders on reaching this milestone, Dr. Kiran G.R., Dean of Middle East College said, “With the abundant grace of God Almighty, we are now Accredited. Is is an important destination in our journey. We are immensely proud of having matched our strides with the tremendous progress that the Sultanate has achieved over the past few decades. We are proud to have met and even exceeded stringent quality measurements in terms of teaching quality and research performance. These two aspects are the heart of any higher education institution, and this result is a testimony to MEC’s commitment to excellence in teaching and research.”
The Institutional Standards Accreditation emphasises institutional self-confidence and confirms an established Quality Culture that is achieved through a deliberate approach and commitment by the institution and the staff. MEC’s commitment to provide quality education in the Sultanate in line with the national priorities makes it an important contributor towards the development in the region through the pursuit of knowledge.
