Middle East College (MEC) hosted H.E. Dr. Hamad Mohammed Al- Dhawiani, Chairman, National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA), Sultanate of Oman to sign the MoU approval for the new MEC’s Archives System on Thursday, the 26th April, 2018. The event was held at the Student Hub, MEC campus, Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM)
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Abdullah Saif Al Sabahi, Chairman, MEC, and other dignitaries from NRAA, MEC management and staff.
A dedicated team from MEC in cooperation with NRAA have worked on developing the MEC’s Archives System. It should be noted that, MEC Archives system is developed in line with the Records and Archives Law based on the Royal Decree No 60/2007 and Article 13 which states the importance of including the archives and records establishments and companies which carry out tasks related to the public bodies. And considering the higher education sector as one of the main pillars in the Sultanate that is related to the public bodies, MEC has introduced its Archives System in coordination with NRAA.
It is worth mentioning that the MEC’s Archives System has been prepared in line with the governmental vision, represented by the NRAA, and as part of MEC’s continuous efforts to enhance the higher education sector and to ensure a higher quality in education. In addition, the college is the first private institution to be approved for its archival system based on the requirements of NRAA and it is the first college to offer the Archives and Records Management programme in the Sultanate of Oman.
