A group of Students from Beacon House International School spend a day at MEC

The experience introduced students to the world of engineering through several knowledge-sharing workshops and hands-on exercises.

Middle East College hosted Beacon House International School on 23rd February as part of ‘A Day at MEC’, a community outreach programme by the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering (Civil Engineering programme) and the ICE Oman Student Chapter at MEC. A major focus of the programme was sharing knowledge with the younger generation.

As part of the programme, several hands-on training sessions on civil engineering lab experiments were organised to introduce students to the world of Engineering. The programme included workshops on key topics like developing Critical Thinking skills, Health and Safety, etc., and fun and sports activities. An experience like this can assist school students in making a great choice about their future studies and careers. Moreover, it improves students’ knowledge and develops their skills.

Students and staff from the visiting school expressed an interest in participating in future editions of the event after being impressed by the activities offered during the programme.
