Middle East College becomes Oman’s first educational institution certified to ISO 21001:2025

Middle East College (MEC) has achieved ISO 21001:2025 certification, becoming the first educational institution in the Sultanate of Oman to receive the certification, according to the College’s announcement. MEC has also achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, marking an important milestone in its commitment to quality education and the systems that support it.

ISO 21001:2025 is an international standard for management systems in educational organisations. It provides a framework for aligning institutional objectives with learners’ needs and for continually improving educational services. For students, the significance of this achievement extends beyond the classroom. It concerns the processes and support systems that shape the learning experience, including how learner needs and feedback are considered and how academic and student support services are reviewed and improved.

At MEC, the certification applies to Foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Engineering, Technology and Business, as well as academic and student support services. Together, ISO 21001:2025 and ISO 9001:2015 bring educational management and quality management into an integrated approach, supporting consistency, accountability and ongoing improvement across the College’s operations.

The achievement reflects the contribution of the College community and reinforces MEC’s continued focus on listening to learners, responding to their needs and developing an educational environment in which students can learn and thrive.
