Middle East College has focused research areas in concomitance with national and institutional priorities, and staff research capabilities. The college has a focused research area such as ‘Big Data and Smart City’ linking academic excellence and fundamental research to a social mission. The following research areas are listed as key research and consultancy areas under the umbrella of Information Technology, Computing, and Management Studies. Apart from this, MEC is planning to establish a National Center for Records Management and Archives and a Center for Smart City.
