Student Advisory Council Successfully Executes Middle East College Carnival 2026

Muscat, Knowledge Oasis – 7 January 2026

Middle East College concluded yesterday the proceedings of its annual Carnival 2026, which was organised and executed by the Student Advisory Council over two consecutive days replete with cultural, recreational, and educational activities, within a celebratory environment that brought together all members of the college community, including students, academic staff, and administrative personnel.

Comprehensive and Extended Programme

The activities spanned 6 and 7 January 2026 within the college facilities, where the Student Advisory Council managed to deliver an integrated educational and recreational programme that diversified between cultural, artistic, and interactive activities, garnering active participation from students and academic and administrative staff.

Food Stations and Interactive Environment

The carnival was distinguished by the deployment of diverse food stations throughout various areas of the campus, offering an extensive array of culinary options that were well received by attendees, within an interactive carnival environment filled with vibrancy, colours, and live music.

Performing Arts and Interactive Educational Experience

Effect Oman presented live performing arts shows that imparted a distinctive character to the carnival, with performances ranging between musical renditions and theatrical arts, thereby enriching the aesthetic experience for attendees and creating an elevated celebratory environment.

In a distinctive educational initiative, Palmera Botanical Garden provided a live interactive petting zoo experience, enabling participants from various age groups to engage directly with animals within a purposeful educational and recreational framework that enhances environmental awareness.

Musical Artistic Performances in the Auditorium

The college auditorium hosted a series of musical artistic performances, where students and participating artists delivered diverse artistic renditions that showcased creative talents and enriched the cultural climate of the carnival, thereby reflecting the artistic and cultural diversity of the student community.

Automotive Exhibition

The car exhibition, held on the evening of 7 January, constituted a principal attraction within the carnival activities, where the exhibition showcased a selection of distinguished automobiles and celebrated automotive culture and technological advancement, thereby attracting the interest of specialists and enthusiasts alike.

Student Leadership and Effective Institutional Management

The Student Advisory Council at Middle East College assumed comprehensive oversight of the strategic planning system, executive coordination, and operational management of the carnival, thereby reflecting the leadership and organisational competencies that students possess in managing major institutional projects with high professionalism and expertise. The events witnessed notable attendance from the student community numbering over 4,000 students, in addition to members of both the academic and administrative staff.

Reinforcing the Values of a Cohesive Academic Community

The activities reflected the educational value system of institutional harmony and communication amongst the various categories of the academic community at Middle East College, where the carnival brought together students from 27 different nationalities with members of the academic and administrative cadres in one event, thereby consolidating the values of institutional belonging and active community participation.

Institutional Commitment to Comprehensive Student Development

The success of the carnival embodies Middle East College’s steadfast commitment to the methodology of student empowerment and the development of leadership competencies and organisational skills through delegating the responsibility of organising major institutional events to students. The college, accredited by the Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA) with the highest classifications, continues to provide over 700 extracurricular and co-curricular activities annually within its strategic vision of “Transforming Education for the World of Work”.
