The Computer Science with pathway Data Analytics Programme addresses the skill requirements of many business sectors and industry that are associated with the use of heterogeneous data, taking into account the need to balance theory with practice.   • Candidates seeking direct admission to the programme mentioned should possess:
  1. A General Education Certificate (Equivalent to 12 years of schooling) or equivalent qualification
  2. A General Foundation Programme (GFP) certificate
  • Students who do not possess a GFP certificate or an equivalent certificate may take MEC placement test. The placement test determines proficiency levels in English, Pure Math and Computing component.
  • Depending on their proficiency levels reflected in the Placement Tests, students will be placed in appropriate levels of MEC Foundation Programme.
  • English Language in the GFP can be exempted on producing IELTS (International English Language Testing System) certificate with a score of 5.5 and above, a TOEFL equivalent or an equivalent international certification.
  • Computing component of the GFP can be exempted if the candidate has successfully completed the ICDL or IC3 or any equivalent international diploma in IT skills.

  • Mathematics component in the GFP (General and Pure Mathematics/Applied Mathematics) modules can be exempted:
    - If the candidate secures pass score in Paper 1 of Test of Mathematics for University Admission-TMUA or
    - If the candidate secures 3/pass/satisfactory score in Paper 1 of Sixth Term Examination Paper (STEP)

A score of 60% and above in MEC placement test in each of the component would enable the student for exemption from the General Foundation Programme.
