The program aims to produce graduates with specific skills related to pathway and generic skills to meet the ever changing technological demands and be also equipped with ability to meet future challenges. The graduates will have appropriate knowledge and understanding of the concepts, principles and theories in: computer hardware, web development, computer networks, programming, operating systems, computer architecture, database, object-oriented modeling, software quality assurance, artificial intelligence, system project management, information retrieval on cloud, computational mathematics, core life skills and entrepreneurship. In addition to this, the graduates will have appropriate knowledge and understanding of the concepts, principles, theories and practices in specific areas such as virtualization, software engineering, cloud computing, cloud security and privacy, mobile application development, block chain technologies.
The graduates will be able to work professionally in any one of the following areas such as: IT engineer/consultant, cloud computing expert, Software application developer, or use their skills within any computer science related profession in a small, medium or large scale organization.
Why should I enrol for this programme?
The programme is designed for you to address the requirements that have emerged from challenges which are posed by unprecedented growth in the use of individual or linked computer science and the supporting consultancy in cloud computing, software application developer, or use their skills within any computer science related profession in a small, medium or large scale organization.
Mathematics component in the GFP (General and Pure Mathematics/Applied Mathematics) modules can be exempted:
- If the candidate secures pass score in Paper 1 of Test of Mathematics for University Admission-TMUA or
- If the candidate secures 3/pass/satisfactory score in Paper 1 of Sixth Term Examination Paper (STEP)
A score of 60% and above in MEC placement test in each of the component would enable the student for exemption from the General Foundation Programme.
Graduates of this programme are required to support the country’s developing IT sector in the information security pathway.
