MEC receives the official CIOB accreditation certificate from Mr Matt Doran, Regional Manager of CIOB for the MENA region, for its two programmes: BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying and Construction Management & MSc Construction Project and Cost Management.
The two programmes were accredited by the Charted Institute of Building (CIOB) in July 2022, which means that the programmes meet the CIOB Education Frameworks.
During the ceremony, Mr Matt said, “It is a huge honour to be presenting the Middle East College, Oman, with their CIOB accreditation on two built environment courses.
Middle East College has been so immensely proactive throughout the accreditation process and has deservedly acquired this very special award. I am also delighted to see Middle East College embrace the CIOB Tomorrow’s Leaders Community which is a platform for students to connect with the construction industry. Congratulations, Dr Ram Kishore and the fantastic team at MEC.”
Graduates from 2022 through 2027 holding these qualifications have a full academic exemption, and once they have gained three to five years of relevant work experience may enter CIOB membership as an applicant to progress towards Chartered Membership without the requirement for an Individual Assessment.
All the programmes offered by the Department of Civil Engineering are internationally accredited by relevant professional bodies. BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering was accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM), and it remains the only bachelor’s programme in Oman to be accredited by JBM and the only programme in Oman to be recognised by the UK Engineering Council, as international accreditation due to the EUR-ACE label.
