Middle East College gets funding from the UK government agency

Middle East College (MEC) has recently been granted a funding approval for the British Council Grant under Joint Academic Development Centres between UK/Gulf.  The proposal was submitted by MEC in collaboration with Coventry University, its partner university. The funding grant forms part of the UK Government’s Science Innovation and Knowledge Economy (GSIKE) Programme to support long-term relationships between academia in the UK and the Gulf.  The GSIKE project is funded and led by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and the grant will be managed by the British Council offices in UK and the Gulf Region.

Funding to hone the skillsets of Omani youth.

The grant will be appropriated by MEC through Department of Management Studies in collaboration with UK’s National Centre for Entrepreneurship in Education.  By utilizing these funds, MEC would offer training programmes on personal leadership, networking of youths with entrepreneurs/businessmen, formulating wider policy measures in order to hone the skillsets of the Omani youth population and women-entrepreneurs, aligning with Oman Vision 2040. The intended training programmes, seminars, networking sessions would provide up to date knowledge focusing on the concepts and strategies to create an entrepreneurial and enterprising culture; and support entrepreneurial leaders to drive change and embed efficient systems.

The project was spearheaded by MEC’s Entrepreneurship Research Thematic Group, Dr. Vijayakumar Srinivasan, Dr. Maria Teresa Matriano, Mr. Nabil Makki, Mr. David Suguku and Mr. Bilal Pandow under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Nawaz Hakro, Assistant Dean – Research and Innovation.
