The Mechanical Engineering Program is of four years duration. The College started implementing this program starting from Fall 2015. The program has some small components in entrepreneurship, technical English, communication, and the core requirements for Mechanical Engineering program.
The Mechanical Engineering Program was designed in line with the College mission of continuous strive for excellence and fulfillment of the needs of human resources for the country's industrialization process in the coming decades of an increasingly competitive world, and, thus play an important role in supporting Oman's goal of sustained industrialization.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering prepares specialists engineers, leaders, entrepreneurs and researchers to take leadership roles in the fields of Mechanical, Manufacturing, thermo-fluids, and thermodynamics, and related engineering professions with skills to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to the related engineering challenges.
The programs in the department are offered through a variety of coursework which provides a solid foundation and technical expertise in the engineering sciences and management skills. The coursework needing to analyze, plan, design, construct and maintain facilities such as Design, Mechanical product innovation, CAD/CAM, CIM, Material and manufacturing, Instrumentation and measurements, Industrial project management, Finite element analysis, Quality control.
Through these programs, the students gain a comprehensive and related engineering knowledge through theory, practical work and real-life projects which enable them to contribute to the growth of Sultanate of Oman.

The department’s research is organized into focus groups and technical areas, which comprise the core mechanical engineering-engineering mechanics disciplinary areas. Our research groups are formed based on the expertise and interest of faculty. Active research groups formed base on the national plane and global focus area. Researchers can involve with one technical area and one or more research groups, depending on expertise and research interests.
Current mechanical engineering staff research areas include Renewable energy, design, synthesis and manufacturing, composite materials, environmental engineering, fluids, kinematics and dynamics, non equilibrium thermodynamics, nanotechnology, nontraditional machining, robotics and system integration, tribology and vibrations of structures.
