Why should I enrol for this programme?
Software development for computer systems used in business, engineering, medicine, and education is an important and essential component of Information Technology. Advancements in software are necessary to allow innovation in the design of hardware. As a result, to impart knowledge about software program development, this programme is designed to include modules that are relevant to the current trends in software technology, design and development, and are also useful in the development of modern applications.
The programme prepares you to address the technical challenges arising from application requirements of the IT industry. The theory and practice components in the modules provide you with concepts and access to modern technological tools. The curriculum includes study of database design, data communication, procedural and object oriented programming paradigms, operating system concepts, and algorithm development.
Mathematics component in the GFP (General and Pure Mathematics/Applied Mathematics) modules can be exempted:
- If the candidate secures pass score in Paper 1 of Test of Mathematics for University Admission-TMUA or
- If the candidate secures 3/pass/satisfactory score in Paper 1 of Sixth Term Examination Paper (STEP)
A score of 60% and above in MEC placement test in each of the component would enable the student for exemption from the General Foundation Programme.
On graduating, you will be qualified to work in a range of positions from entry level programming to lead information system analysts. This programme will provide you with the skills you need to successfully design and develop distributed business applications for new venture creation and work in a variety of organizations such as IT companies as well as government and private institutions.
